Private Cloud Lead - Madrid

About the role

ING Hubs Spain is looking for a Private Cloud Lead in Madrid to help grow and develop its engineering team and shape the future of ING's Private Cloud platform. The Private Cloud area is central to ING's technology strategy, providing the foundational platforms and services that let engineers build, deploy and run applications securely and efficiently. As a Lead, you combine people leadership with technical leadership, focusing on helping engineers grow and building a strong engineering culture.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a chapter of 5-15 engineers, whose size grows over time, supporting their personal and professional growth
• Create an engaging, inclusive and high-performing work environment
• Drive capability building, knowledge sharing and engineering excellence across the chapter
• Partner with Product Managers and fellow Chapter Leads so the right skills and talent are available for business objectives
• Contribute to the strategic direction of the tribe and continuously improve ways of working
• Support recruitment, onboarding, succession planning and talent development
• Foster ownership, collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement, and act as a role model for ING values
• Spend part of your time on strategic initiatives, transformation or hands-on engineering work, depending on your background
• Hands-on experience with database products (e.g. Oracle, Cassandra or Postgres) helps support engineers and technical decisions

Required profile

• Technical education, preferably in Information Technology
• 10+ years of technical background in IT infrastructure
• High-level English (C1)
• Experience in a large corporate's IT infrastructure department
• Several years of demonstrable experience as a lead (lead engineer, project leader or hierarchical lead) is a strong benefit
• Strong understanding of Agile-Scrum methodology is considered positive
