R&D Specification & Software Engineer - Heat Pumps

About the role

Bosch Home Comfort is looking for an R&D Specification & Software Engineer to join its air-to-water heat pump development design team in Vacarisses, Spain. You will define product requirements, develop embedded software functionalities and ensure they integrate seamlessly into the Heating product range, working closely with the R&D Centre in Aveiro (Portugal).

Key responsibilities

• Define, specify and document system requirements for new products and functionalities.
• Develop, implement and validate embedded software and control algorithms for heat pump systems.
• Follow up, validate and obtain technical approval of prototypes and their software behaviour in laboratory environments, in collaboration with the R&D Centre in Aveiro.
• Draft and maintain product specifications, functional requirements, user scenarios and system behaviour documentation.
• Develop and debug embedded software for microcontrollers, control boards and communication interfaces.
• Design and validate software logic for system operation, safety functions, communication protocols and performance strategies.
• Collaborate with electronics, electrical and control engineering teams on hardware-software integration.
• Support product performance targets through software tuning, algorithm optimisation and functional improvements.
• Support development and verification of communication protocols (CAN, Modbus, UART, proprietary protocols).

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Software or Electronic Engineering.
• Ability to take ownership of responsibilities, show sound judgement and initiative, and assess the feasibility of software implementations and validation test results.
• Understanding of the product development lifecycle.
• Advanced English, allowing independent technical discussion with international teams.
• Willingness to work on-site in Vacarisses, Spain.
