Seafreight Import Operations Agent

About the role

CLASQUIN is looking for a Seafreight Import Operations Agent to join its Barcelona team. You will be responsible for managing and coordinating international sea‑freight shipments, ensuring smooth import processes and compliance with logistics procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Operate import and export sea‑freight shipments (FCL and LCL), from booking to delivery.
• Coordinate with shipping lines, agents and suppliers to reserve space, track voyages and resolve incidents.
• Prepare and verify documentation such as bills of lading, shipping instructions, certificates, packing lists and commercial invoices.
• Monitor shipments from origin to destination, guaranteeing agreed timelines and conditions.
• Handle customs procedures by liaising with customs brokers for clearance, tariff classification and required paperwork.
• Communicate shipment status to national and international customers, answering queries promptly.
• Control costs and billing by checking rates, issuing invoices and tracking expenses per operation.
• Maintain accurate filing and document management according to internal policies and regulations.

Required profile

• Approximately 2 years of experience in a similar sea‑freight import role.
• Strong organisational and communication abilities.
• Capacity to resolve incidents independently and make day‑to‑day operational decisions.
• Good knowledge of Incoterms, international shipping documentation and customs processes.
• Proficiency with computer tools and logistics management software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
