Secondary Physical Education & Wellness Teacher

About the role

The American School of Barcelona seeks a dedicated Secondary Physical Education & Wellness Teacher for grades 6‑12. You will inspire students to adopt active, healthy lifestyles while supporting their social‑emotional development in a multicultural environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging PE and health lessons for grades 6‑12, promoting physical, mental and social‑emotional wellbeing.
• Design and document units of study on the school’s Learning Management System using the Understanding by Design (UbD) framework.
• Plan lessons that align with curriculum standards and differentiate to meet diverse learning needs.
• Collaborate with the Physical Education Subject Area Leader and other faculty to develop and refine the PE/Health curriculum.
• Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments and provide constructive feedback.
• Foster an inclusive, supportive environment that encourages lifelong active lifestyles.

Required profile

• Relevant teaching qualification and experience in Physical Education and/or Health for secondary students (grades 6‑12).
• Commitment to the school’s mission of inspiring active, curious learners and global citizens.
• Ability to work in a multicultural, international school community.
• Strong organizational and planning skills.

Required skills

• Understanding by Design (UbD) curriculum planning.
• Use of a Learning Management System for unit documentation.
• Implementation of research‑based instructional strategies.
