Senior Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join Recurrent Energy’s Finance team in Madrid. The role will manage end‑to‑end accounting and reporting for a portfolio of project SPVs under development and an operational asset‑management entity, providing high‑quality financial information in a fast‑moving, international environment.

Key responsibilities

• Take full ownership of accounting for assigned entities, including project SPVs and the Asset Management entity.
• Execute month‑end and year‑end closing activities, prepare journal entries, accruals and financial statements under Spanish GAAP (PGC) and, where required, US GAAP.
• Prepare monthly reporting packages, variance analysis and supporting explanations for senior management.
• Monitor project‑related transactions, development costs and inter‑company flows; perform bank reconciliations and cash monitoring.
• Support cash‑flow preparation and analysis, ensuring compliance with accounting and tax requirements.
• Coordinate with external auditors and advisors, providing documentation and responding to queries.
• Liaise with internal departments such as Project Finance, Legal and Treasury to ensure accurate accounting records.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes and internal controls.

Required profile

• Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or a related field.
• 4–6 years of accounting experience, preferably in audit or multinational environments.
• Strong knowledge of Spanish GAAP (PGC); exposure to US GAAP is a plus.
• Fluent English (minimum B2, ideally C1) and high attention to detail.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, evolving environment and work effectively in a team.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel (Microsoft 365) proficiency.
• Experience with SAP accounting modules.
• Practical application of Spanish GAAP (PGC) and US GAAP.
