Senior Cost Manager - Data Centers

About the role

Turner & Townsend, a global professional services company with expertise in the data centre sector, is recruiting an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor / Senior Cost Manager in Madrid. The role acts as the day-to-day interface with clients, driving projects to an excellent outcome, with the chance to take the lead on strategic commissions and high-profile projects.

Key responsibilities

• Produce and present the final cost plan, estimating at conceptual, programming and detailed levels
• Assist on feasibility studies and write procurement reports
• Manage procurement: pre-qualification, bid list, bid analysis, bid report and contractual documents
• Take part in post-contract cost variances and change control, referring major changes to the line manager
• Manage cost checks and valuations on larger projects, and produce monthly post-contract cost reports for the client
• Contribute to value engineering, negotiate and approve final accounts, and liaise with clients and other consultants throughout the project
• Lead the cost management team when needed, identify new business opportunities with existing clients, and suggest improvements to cost management procedures and templates

Required profile

• At least 8 years of work experience with a proven track record in pre-contract, post-contract and final account cost management
• Experience leading cost management on medium to large, medium to high complexity construction projects
• Experience advising clients on value management, value engineering and life cycle costing
• Preferred: experience in data centres, pharma, oil and gas
• Good understanding of civil, structural and architectural aspects of construction
• Fluent English, excellent presentation and communication skills, strong organisational skills and ability to multi-task
