Job description
About the role
Roche is looking for a Senior Data Center Network Engineer in Madrid. The engineer solves complex business problems with advanced technologies in their specialized infrastructure area, leads challenging projects, makes critical technical decisions and architects resilient solutions across multiple domains. The role also involves influencing technical strategy, vendor relationships and inter-organizational initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Act as solution architect: design, build, test and implement integrated, resilient first-time deployments in several areas, and own technical design, build and testing decisions.
- Lead end-to-end design of infrastructure solutions, maintain component standards and evaluate solutions through proofs of concept and feasibility studies.
- Support major incidents internally and communicate complex solutions to cross-functional teams and the business in non-technical terms.
- Represent the organization as a prime contact with senior internal and external personnel and influence vendor product evaluations.
- Lead small-to-medium technical teams on medium-sized initiatives, ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards and the Technical Architecture Framework, and help plan projects, resources, risks and timelines.
Required profile
- Proven experience designing and operating modern data center network architectures, including spine-leaf topologies and large-scale L2/L3 fabrics.
- Strong expertise in data center virtualization, especially EVPN-VXLAN, including BGP EVPN control plane design, multi-tenancy and scalable overlay networking.
- Experience planning and executing complex network migrations such as brownfield-to-greenfield transitions with minimal downtime and robust rollback strategies.
- Hands-on experience with Arista EOS, including configuration, troubleshooting, automation and lifecycle management in production.
- Experience with network automation and Infrastructure as Code using Arista AVD, GitHub and CI/CD pipelines.
- In-depth knowledge of at least two technology areas (e.g., compute and storage, network management, high performance computing, database management).
- Experience applying Scrum and Agile best practices in always-up, always-available service environments.
