Senior Electrical Design Engineer – Data Centers

About the role

AECOM's Building Services Engineering team is hiring a Senior Electrical Design Engineer with strong data center experience to support the design and delivery of mission-critical facilities. You will contribute to engineering calculations, technical design, equipment selection and design reviews, and provide technical leadership from concept design through to construction support.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of MV/LV electrical systems for data center facilities.
• Develop electrical designs, calculations, single-line diagrams, technical specifications and engineering documentation.
• Design critical power systems including substations, transformers, switchgear, generators, UPS systems, STS, PDUs and grounding networks.
• Perform and review power system studies such as load flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, arc flash and reliability analyses.
• Review deliverables for compliance with project requirements, standards and best practices.
• Act as technical lead, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and mentoring junior engineers.
• Engage with clients on technical reviews, workshops and proposals, and support construction activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• At least 8 years of experience in electrical design, including data centers, mission-critical facilities or similar high-performance environments.
• Strong knowledge of IEC, NFPA, IEEE, BS and EN standards.
• Experience acting as technical lead and coordinating multidisciplinary design teams.
• Professional proficiency in both English and Spanish.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ETAP, Caneco, AutoCAD and Revit MEP.
• Power system studies and electrical design.
