Senior Engineering Manager – GenAI & Agentic Platforms

About the role

Lead the GenAI and Agentic Platform teams at Preply, shaping the engineering strategy for AI‑driven learning services. You will oversee two squads of 8‑12 engineers, ensuring the platforms move from experimentation to reliable production.

Key responsibilities

• Define long‑term vision and architecture for the GenAI and Agentic Platforms, aligning them as a single coherent platform.
• Partner with the Product Manager to set outcomes, prioritize investments and measure impact.
• Hire, coach and develop engineers, manage performance, career growth and team composition.
• Own hiring quality, evolve team boundaries and operating models as the platforms and company evolve.
• Guide architecture across model access, evaluation, observability, retrieval, agent orchestration, tools, state, memory, permissions and control planes.
• Translate strategy into realistic plans, balancing foundational work with near‑term product needs.

Required profile

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years in engineering management of multiple teams.
• Proven track record of hiring, coaching and retaining high‑performing engineers.
• Strong technical depth in platform, backend or distributed systems, and ML or developer infrastructure.
• Hands‑on experience with production GenAI or Agentic systems and understanding of model access, evaluation, observability, retrieval, orchestration, safety and cost.
