Senior Full-stack Engineer (backend-heavy)

About the role

Preply is looking for a senior full‑stack engineer to help shape the future of AI‑enhanced language learning. The role is backend‑heavy (about 60% backend, 40% frontend) and involves building scalable services, integrating third‑party APIs, and delivering smooth user experiences for learners and tutors.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and own backend features using Python/Django, including new services and third‑party integrations.
• Build and evolve frontend experiences with React and Typescript, contributing to experimentation frameworks.
• Lead complex initiatives from discovery through deployment, ensuring long‑term sustainability.
• Mentor teammates, conduct architectural reviews, and promote engineering best practices across the stack.
• Collaborate with product, data, and design teams to drive data‑driven product development and measurable outcomes.

Required profile

• Senior‑level full‑stack expertise with a strong backend focus.
• Hands‑on experience with AI‑augmented development and ability to use AI as a thought partner.
• Proven track record of designing large‑scale web applications, APIs, and distributed systems.
• Strong product mindset, able to translate ambiguous business challenges into technical solutions.
• Excellent collaboration, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills; English level B2 or higher.
