Senior Mechanical Systems Design Engineer – Military Derivatives

About the role
A permanent position is open for a Mechanical Systems Integration & Design Engineer within Airbus Defence & Space, based at the Getafe site in Spain. You will join the Mechanical Systems Installation department of the Derivatives area, working on a multidisciplinary team that integrates mechanical systems for a military program. The role involves delivering technical solutions for aircraft build, test and delivery while supporting production and service activities.
Key responsibilities
- Define mechanical systems from system architecture and specify components for purchasing.
- Produce mechanical parts documentation for manufacturing and installation documentation for assembly.
- Support stakeholders such as supply chain, quality, manufacturing engineering, production, stress analysis, and certification with technical expertise.
- Generate KPI reports, maintain design documentation, and contribute to design improvement activities.
- Validate mechanical system installation components to optimise weight, cost, performance and maintainability while ensuring safety.
Required profile
- Degree in Aeronautical, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline.
- More than 7 years of experience in engineering, preferably in an airframe design department.
- Professional experience with fluid‑system installations (hydraulic, fuel, pneumatics) and equipment installations (sensors, antennas, lights, cameras).
- Advanced English proficiency; Spanish native speaker; French considered an asset.
Required skills
- Proficiency with CATIA V5 for mechanical design.
- Experience in MSI (Mechanical Systems Integration) design.
- Knowledge of fluid‑system installation techniques (hydraulic, fuel, pneumatics).
- Expertise in equipment integration such as sensors, antennas, lighting and camera systems.
- Ability to specify mechanical components and select appropriate manufacturing technologies.
