Senior Poultry Research Scientist (PhD) & Project Manager

About the role

Nutreco, part of the SHV family, is looking for a Poultry Researcher with expertise in layers to join its global R&D team. The role contributes to innovative nutritional solutions that improve animal performance, welfare and production efficiency, supporting a transition to more sustainable poultry production. The position is based at the El Viso de San Juan Research Centre, one of Trouw Nutrition's global R&D facilities for broilers and laying hens.

Key responsibilities

• Design, lead and manage multidisciplinary poultry research projects, from literature review and protocol development to data analysis, interpretation and reporting.
• Drive research on poultry nutrition, gut health, performance, welfare and sustainable production.
• Translate scientific discoveries into commercial products and solutions for customers.
• Develop and implement research methodologies and support the development of research technicians.
• Collaborate with commercial, technical and scientific teams to generate new research ideas.
• Present findings internally and externally at conferences, industry events and stakeholder meetings.
• Build partnerships with universities, research institutes and industry organisations.
• Contribute to cross-functional and international project teams in a matrix organisation.

Required profile

• PhD in Poultry Science, Animal Nutrition or a related field.
• About 10 years of experience in nutrition research (poultry, feed formulation, feed additives, gut health, microbiology).
• Experience managing research projects and turning scientific knowledge into practical applications.
• Fluent in English and Spanish.
• Good understanding of the poultry industry and its market challenges.
