Senior Python Backend Engineer – Madrid

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join a strategic banking and financial services project. The role focuses on designing, building, and maintaining high‑performance backend systems using Python and C++ while operating in a distributed, containerised environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend applications in Python.
• Implement and optimise performance‑critical components in C++.
• Integrate and consume APIs to enable communication between distributed services.
• Work with in‑memory data stores such as Redis or Valkey.
• Deploy, operate and support services in Kubernetes‑based container environments.
• Contribute to Service‑Oriented Architecture (SOA) design and implementation.
• Troubleshoot production incidents and optimise system reliability and performance.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in backend software development.
• Strong hands‑on expertise in Python for enterprise applications.
• Professional experience with C++ development.
• Proficiency with Redis or Valkey in‑memory databases.
• Solid understanding of API design, integration and consumption.
• Experience with SOA‑based architectures and distributed computing environments.
• Ability to work independently in complex technical settings.
