About the role
You will join the Computing Platforms & Multisystems HW/SW Integration group (TADYS2) within Airbus Defence and Space’s Highly Integrated Systems domain. As a Senior Software Platform Integration Engineer you will lead the CoC’s computing platforms strategy, delivering robust, certifiable, high‑performance software for airborne computing platforms.
Key responsibilities
- Elicit and maintain Software Requirements Specifications (SRS) for safety‑critical onboard computers and perform V&V in compliance with RTCA DO‑178C up to DAL‑A.
- Define full software platform architectures, including partitioning, scheduling, resource allocation and integration of third‑party applications, RTOS BSPs, drivers and middleware.
- Develop common APIs and standardized access to platform support software (RTOS, BSP, low‑level I/O, middleware) to support multiple design offices.
- Design and implement new capabilities such as secure mathematical functions, file‑system services and time/logging services for the communalization strategy.
- Participate in platform software certification, interfacing with certification authorities to demonstrate DO‑178C compliance.
- Perform technology assessments, trade‑off analyses and rapid prototyping on reference boards, focusing on multicore architectures.
Required profile
- Professional level English communication and negotiation skills.
- Proactive, autonomous work style with strong analytical problem‑solving mindset.
- Experience working in cross‑functional, Agile teams using tools such as Jira and Confluence.
Required skills
- Advanced C programming for real‑time embedded systems; GNU toolchains (GCC, Clang/LLVM, Diab).
- Deep knowledge of ARM, PowerPC or x86 SoC architectures, MMU, caches and memory hierarchies.
- Expertise in avionics data buses: ARINC‑429, MIL‑STD‑1553B, CAN, AFDX, TSN.
- Proficiency with low‑speed peripherals (UART, SPI, I2C) and high‑speed interconnects (PCIe, DMA).
- Safety‑critical RTOS and ARINC‑653 experience (e.g., Wind River VxWorks 653, PikeOS, Green Hills Integrity, DEOS).
- Strong understanding of RTCA DO‑178C and DO‑330 certification standards.
- Python scripting for automation, CI/CD pipelines and hardware setup.
- Embedded Linux driver development and platform software for mission‑critical Linux systems.
- Modeling with UML/SysML tools (Cameo, IBM Rhapsody) and static analysis tools (Polyspace, SciTools Understand, LDRA).
