Senior Specialist Digitalization – AI Engineer for Digital Plant

About the role

BASF is looking for a hands‑on AI Engineer to join its Digital Hub in Madrid. You will work on the Internal Developer Platform (DevHub), turning AI into a first‑class capability by building reusable, production‑grade services and developer experiences that integrate with portals, IDEs and collaboration tools.

Key responsibilities

• Treat the platform as a product and create self‑service AI building blocks, SDKs, and versioned APIs.
• Design and ship AI experiences such as conversational assistants and copilots across portals, IDEs (GitHub Copilot/MCP) and Teams.
• Expose platform capabilities through multi‑tenant, RBAC‑aware APIs for both human and agent consumers.
• Own evaluation frameworks, golden tests, and retrieval‑quality metrics to ensure correctness and regression safety.
• Select deterministic pipelines with structured outputs and human‑in‑the‑loop where appropriate.
• Strengthen MLOps/LLMOps practices, including prompt/version management, model adaptation, and CI/CD pipelines.

Required profile

• Proven experience building production‑grade AI services on an enterprise platform.
• Strong understanding of multi‑tenant architecture, cost‑tracking, and governance requirements.
• Hands‑on expertise with MLOps/LLMOps, CI/CD, and model lifecycle management.
• Ability to design deterministic pipelines and incorporate human oversight where needed.
• Experience working in agile, product‑oriented environments.
