Senior User Researcher
novartis · Barcelona Gran Vía
Job description
About the role
Novartis is looking for a Senior User Researcher in Barcelona to lead the research agenda for one or more product or experience domains within its Digital, Data & IT Experience and Adoption unit. This is a hands-on senior individual-contributor role combining strong qualitative and quantitative expertise with sound judgement, partnering with product, design, engineering and business stakeholders so that research leads to meaningful action.
Key responsibilities
- Own the research agenda: define research initiatives aligned with business priorities and evidence gaps, and frame decision-focused research questions.
- Design and deliver end-to-end mixed-methods studies, triangulating insights from different sources.
- Synthesize findings into clear, actionable recommendations and track how research influences decisions and outcomes.
- Represent user needs in roadmap, prioritisation and design discussions, and mentor colleagues and improve research quality standards.
- Use AI where it adds measurable efficiency without compromising research quality, and uphold ethical, inclusive research with proper consent and data handling.
Required profile
- 8+ years of applied research experience, such as product or design research.
- Demonstrable expertise in both qualitative and quantitative methods, and a track record of research influencing product or business decisions.
- Bachelor's degree in human-computer interaction, cognitive science, psychology, statistics, anthropology, design research or a related discipline.
- Excellent written and spoken English and clear communication with senior stakeholders; accessibility and inclusive research expertise is a plus.
- Working knowledge of research ethics, consent, privacy and confidentiality.
Required skills
- Hands-on experience with enterprise-scale research tools and/or repositories.
- Ability to frame ambiguous problems and select proportionate approaches.
What we offer
- Base salary range of EUR 41,900 to EUR 77,700, with a possible performance-based bonus.
- Benefits such as insurance plans, retirement plans, wellbeing resources and global recognition programs.
- Flexible and hybrid working where possible, and at least 14 weeks of paid parental leave.
Note: Novartis does not offer relocation support for this role, and benefits and compensation may vary by country.
