Senior VAT Compliance Analyst – EMEA

About the role

Amazon’s International Indirect Tax Compliance team in Barcelona is looking for a Senior VAT Compliance Analyst to manage EMEA VAT returns and related filings. You will work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment, supporting both Amazon’s own operations and third‑party sellers.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, analyse, review and submit VAT returns for multiple EMEA jurisdictions.
• Handle Intrastat/EC sales declarations as required.
• Organise VAT registrations across various countries.
• Respond to VAT compliance queries from Amazon businesses.
• Map VAT processes, identify improvement areas and implement solutions.
• Perform month‑end VAT account reconciliations.
• Provide data analysis and support for internal and external audits.
• Assist accounting groups and contribute to Tax Requirement Documents for technology teams.
• Lead and participate in cross‑functional projects focused on automation and in‑housing.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of VAT compliance principles, regulations and reporting across EU/UK jurisdictions.
• Experience in a compliance‑focused tax role within a multinational or professional services environment.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Bachelor’s degree in tax, accounting, finance or a professional tax qualification (preferred).
