Software Development Engineer – Java & AWS

About the role

Ring is seeking a Software Development Engineer to help build the next generation of backend services for its smart home devices. You will join a fast‑paced, cross‑functional team that designs, tests, and iterates on low‑latency, high‑availability systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design and document distributed systems and micro‑services.
• Write robust, maintainable Java (or C++/C#) code with clear documentation.
• Deliver customer value iteratively while aligning with long‑term roadmap goals.
• Communicate status and changes to stakeholders and keep plans up to date.
• Implement unit and integration test automation.
• Leverage generative AI tools to improve productivity, code quality, and system design while ensuring security and compliance.

Required profile

• Professional software development experience (non‑internship).
• Experience designing or architecting scalable, reliable systems.
• Proficiency in at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# and object‑oriented design.
• Experience contributing to architecture and design of production systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent (preferred).
