Software Engineer, Backend – Core/API & Process Automation

About the role

This position is for a Backend Software Engineer focused on core API development and process automation. Based in Spain, you will join a remote‑first team building the backend infrastructure that powers large‑scale, event‑driven business workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and evolve backend services that enable reliable workflow execution and enterprise automation.
• Implement and maintain event‑sourced workflow engines, APIs, and process orchestration components.
• Address distributed‑system challenges such as concurrency, ordering, CQRS patterns, and system reliability.
• Improve performance by optimizing data access and processing across multiple storage technologies.
• Build observability features including logging, metrics, tracing, and monitoring.
• Contribute to technical design decisions, code reviews, testing, and documentation.
• Identify technical debt and propose solutions to enhance system quality.
• Participate in production support and on‑call rotations as needed.
