Software Engineer II, Payments Platform

About the role

Flywire, a global payments enablement and software company, is looking for a Software Engineer to help build and scale the platform behind its global payment engine, which moves hundreds of millions daily across education, healthcare, travel and B2B payments. The role is hybrid and office-based in Valencia, Spain, and is aimed at someone with around 2 years of software engineering experience who wants to work on business-critical systems affecting payment speed, reliability and client experience. Depending on team placement, the role may lean backend or full stack.

Key responsibilities

• Build, maintain and improve services that support high-volume payment systems
• Write clean, testable and maintainable code
• Contribute to new features and improve existing functionality
• Support the reliability, performance and security of the platform
• Investigate technical issues and help resolve production problems
• Make engineering decisions using data, product context and technical judgement
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, QA, SRE and engineers across global teams
• Learn from experienced engineers and explore how AI-enabled tools can improve engineering productivity and quality

Required profile

• Around 2 years of experience in software or application development
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, ideally with backend or full stack experience
• Experience building or working with APIs, web services or REST-based architecture
• Good understanding of object-oriented design or similar principles
• Interest in scalable systems, cloud platforms and reliability
• Fluent English and strong communication skills
• Product-minded approach and comfort in a cross-functional product engineering environment
• Based in Valencia or open to relocating from another Spanish city
