Specialist Java Backend Developer

About the role

The Senior Software Developer will join RBC's Digital Banking IT group, focusing on internet, mobile, and origination applications for the Caribbean market. Working within an Agile product team, you will design, develop, and enhance backend services that power the Caribbean Digital Channel portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Design, code, and test Java backend applications and APIs.
• Review, analyze, and modify existing systems to improve performance and maintainability.
• Develop automated unit and functional tests to ensure high code quality.
• Collaborate with product, business, and infrastructure teams to deliver robust digital banking solutions.
• Lead feasibility studies, vendor evaluations, and due‑diligence activities for large‑scale projects.
• Research emerging technologies and propose strategic improvements.

Required profile

• Senior‑level software developer with strong experience in digital banking or financial services.
• Proven ability to work in Agile product teams and provide technical direction.
• Excellent analytical skills and ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
