Structural Design Engineer – Photovoltaics (Design + Construction)

About the role

MECASOLAR is expanding its engineering team to deliver utility‑scale photovoltaic projects worldwide. The Structural Design Engineer will ensure the technical feasibility and constructability of PV structures, from concept through commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Perform structural calculations for tracker systems and fixed PV structures (cold‑formed steel, bolted/welded joints, buckling, fatigue, vibrations).
• Apply loads and regulations (Eurocodes/EN, ASCE 7, NTC, local codes) to design solutions.
• Prepare design documentation including calculation reports, drawings, BOMs and ITPs.
• Supervise on‑site activities such as pile driving, pull‑out tests, QA/QC checks and handling non‑conformities.
• Monitor risks, conduct constructability analysis and manage as‑built closure.
• Design and verify foundations and geotechnical solutions (driven piles, pre‑drill, helical piles, micropiles, footings) and validate soil‑structure interaction.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Structures or Mechanics (or equivalent).
• 2–5 years of experience in metal structures design, preferably in PV projects.
• Knowledge of international codes and regulations (Europe, LATAM, Asia).
• Professional English proficiency (minimum B2).

Required skills

• Structural calculation of tracker and fixed PV systems.
• Application of Eurocodes, EN, ASCE 7, NTC and local codes.
• Design documentation preparation (reports, drawings, BOMs, ITPs).
• On‑site supervision of pile driving, pull‑out testing and QA/QC.
• Foundations and geotechnical design, soil‑structure interaction.
• Software: CYPE 3D, Consteel, Ansys, Lpile, AutoCAD, SolidWorks.
