The role covers compliance with regulations, customer requirements and sustainability standards across global coffee sourcing and trading, and sets up scalable processes for supplier evidence, audits, certifications and assurance systems. The position is based in Madrid, Hamburg or Amsterdam.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end implementation and management of global regulatory compliance programmes, including EUDR, PPWR, BPA and food-contact material requirements, PFAS and emerging EU environmental regulations.
- Turn regulatory requirements into roadmaps, policies, procedures and controls, working with Origin Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Legal, Sustainability and Commercial teams.
- Monitor evolving regulations and assess their impact on sourcing, trading and market access.
- Set up governance, controls, monitoring and audit trails so compliance is applied consistently across entities, functions and jurisdictions.
- Own and coordinate customer compliance audits, sustainability assessments and third-party assurance programmes such as SMETA, and act as the main contact for auditors.
- Lead the supplier compliance and evidence programme, building due diligence systems, evidence repositories, compliance databases and onboarding processes.
- Develop dashboards, KPIs and management reports on compliance performance, supplier coverage, audit outcomes and regulatory risks.
- Manage customer sustainability, regulatory and compliance requests, including due diligence questionnaires and key customer audits.
- Lead corrective action plans and continuous improvement from audits and reviews, and build relationships with customers, certification bodies, auditors, consultants and regulators.
Required profile
- At least 8 years' experience in a global organisation, with significant exposure to regulatory compliance, sustainability assurance, supply chain compliance or regulatory affairs.
- Proven experience implementing and managing compliance programmes across multiple entities, jurisdictions and operational environments.
- Experience leading internal and external audits (customer, third-party certification, sustainability, SMETA or ethical trade) and associated corrective actions.
- Experience managing supplier compliance programmes, including onboarding, due diligence, evidence collection and monitoring.
- Ability to work in a complex, international, matrix organisation; Spanish, French or Portuguese is an advantage.
- Right to work in the provided location.
Required skills
- Understanding of sustainability, environmental, supply chain, packaging, food-sector and due diligence regulations.
- Experience with EUDR implementation and due diligence systems is highly desirable; exposure to PPWR, PFAS or food-contact materials is beneficial.
- Project management and programme implementation skills, with a hands-on approach.
- Experience with compliance transformation, process improvement, systems implementation or automation, and digital compliance tools, data analytics or AI-enabled solutions is beneficial.
