System Engineer – Military Derivatives

About the role

We are looking for a System Engineer to join Airbus Defence and Space in Getafe, Spain. The role focuses on developing and maintaining mission support and planning systems for military aircraft platforms, ensuring they meet operational, safety and performance requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Perform system engineering activities across the product life‑cycle, from concept definition to design, requirements engineering and system test & qualification.
• Ensure scope, quality, feasibility, reusability, optimisation, maintainability and safety of assigned tasks.
• Define and execute test plans, and support in‑service maintenance of deployed systems at military bases.
• Translate customer requirements into system and product specifications, guaranteeing compliance with regulations.
• Participate in customer meetings, workshops and provide technical support for updates and queries.

Required profile

• University degree in a technical field such as aeronautics, computer science or telecommunications engineering.
• At least 5 years of experience in system or software development.
• Advanced proficiency in English and Spanish, both written and spoken.

Required skills

• System engineering and requirements engineering methods.
• Experience with IBM DOORS for requirements management.
• Proficiency with the Atlassian suite – Jira, Confluence and Bamboo.
• Knowledge of mission planning or mission systems (advantageous).
