Tactical Communications Lab Test Engineer

About the role

An opportunity for a Tactical Communications Lab Test Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space in Getafe (Madrid). The selected candidate will join the Flight & Integration Test Centre, supporting integration, verification and validation testing for major defence programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse technical documentation and test requirements to define coherent rig test cases, procedures and specifications.
• Generate test datasets, simulation requirements, scripts and tactical scenarios prior to execution.
• Execute rig test procedures, manage pre‑run activities (crypto/software loading) and operate specialised lab equipment such as MaTE, AIDASS, TIGER and bus analyzers.
• Assess system behaviour after tests, produce comprehensive reports and support root‑cause investigations.
• Manage equipment lifecycle and issue tracking using tools like DOORS, Octane and FTNet.

Required profile

• Education: Degree or Master’s in Telecommunications, Radiocommunications, Electronics or Aeronautical Engineering.
• 2‑6 years of experience in system testing, IV&V or hands‑on rig testing.
• Advanced proficiency in English and Spanish.
• Eligibility for NATO security clearance and ITAR/National Export Control authorisations.

Required skills

• Knowledge of tactical datalinks (Link 16/22, VMF, SATCOM, JRE, etc.).
• Hands‑on use of MIL‑STD‑1553 bus analyzers, datalink simulators and test support systems.
• Experience with test‑data creation, requirement traceability and tools such as DOORS, Octane and FTNet.
