Tactical Communications Lab Test Engineer

About the role

Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a Tactical Communications Lab Test Engineer in Getafe (Madrid) to join its Flight & Integration Test Centre. You will work in a multidisciplinary, multicultural team supporting major aircraft and defence programmes such as Eurofighter, A400M, C295, Eurodrone, SIRTAP, Helicopters and FCAS. The role suits people who enjoy hands-on work with complex systems, interrogating data and rigorously assessing system performance.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse technical documentation and design requirements to build Rig Test Cases, procedures and test specifications for rigs and validation environments.
• Create pre-test data sets, including simulation requirements, test scripts, initialization files and tactical scenarios.
• Execute tests on virtual testing environments, subsystem rigs and global system integration rigs (using tools such as MaTE, AIDASS or datalink simulators), and support on-aircraft ground and flight testing.
• Analyse test results, assess system behaviour and produce comprehensive test reports.
• Identify, declare and manage equipment and system problem reports, carrying out root cause investigations.
• Manage lifecycle control tools (DOORS, Octane, FTNet) and specify custom test tools (decoding, emulation, automation) including their qualification.

Required profile

• BSc or MSc in Telecommunications Engineering, Radiocommunications, Industrial (Electronics) Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering or a related field.
• 2 to 6 years of experience in system testing (rig testing, hands-on or hands-off) in tactical/mission/safety communication systems or similar.
• Advanced English and Spanish (written and spoken).
• Active NATO security clearance (or eligibility to obtain it) and eligibility for ITAR and national export control authorizations.

Required skills

• Knowledge of tactical datalinks (Link 16/22/VMF), SATCOM, V/UHF radios and comm servers, and test support tools.
• Hands-on experience with lab equipment and simulators such as 1553 Databus analysers, TIGER, MIGATO, LEGS, AIDASS and LabView.
• Requirements interpretation, test scripting and systems behaviour assessment.
