Tax Manager – VAT Advisory & Technology

About the role

The VAT Manager (Advisory) reports directly to the Head of Indirect Taxes and provides strategic VAT advisory support across the business. The role focuses on new transactions, structures, and commercial flows while leading VAT‑related workstreams in major technology projects.

Key responsibilities

• Provide VAT advisory services on commercial transactions, new structures, and cross‑border flows.
• Analyse cross‑border goods and services to proactively identify and mitigate VAT risks.
• Lead VAT workstreams within the ORACLE implementation, ensuring correct VAT determination, reporting, and compliance.
• Drive tax‑technology and automation initiatives to improve VAT processes, accuracy, and controls.
• Advise Finance, Legal, Operations, and Trading on VAT implications of business decisions.
• Support M&A transactions with VAT due diligence and integration activities.
• Monitor regulatory developments and implement new VAT reporting requirements (e‑reporting, e‑invoicing, real‑time digital reporting).
• Collaborate with IT to design and implement technology‑driven VAT solutions.
• Manage relationships with external advisers across multiple jurisdictions.
• Support and lead VAT audits and respond to ad‑hoc VAT queries.

Required profile

• University degree in Tax, Law, Economics, Accounting or related field; post‑graduate VAT qualification is a plus.
• 5‑7 years of VAT experience, preferably from a Big 4 firm or multinational environment.
• In‑depth knowledge of VAT legislation and regulations; familiarity with customs and excise is advantageous.
• Strong analytical mindset, high integrity and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Excellent oral and written English; additional languages are a plus.
