Team Lead Solution Workflow Simulation

About the role

Roche Diagnostics Solutions' Core Lab Development (CLD) is looking for a Solution Workflow Simulation Team Lead in Sant Cugat del Vallès. The SAIT subchapter provides services for the integration, testing and simulation of automation systems and end-to-end solutions. As Team Lead, you will guide a team of Simulation and Modeling Engineers spread across three sites, helping them model complex laboratory workflows, optimize system throughput, develop digital twins and deliver virtual testing and emulation tools.

Key responsibilities

• Cultivate an innovative team culture, set goals, give feedback and tailor professional development plans
• Manage a mix of internal staff, contractors, managed services and apprentices, resolve conflicts and ensure compliance with training, quality and employment regulations
• Plan, direct and monitor team resources and costs, balancing core R&D tool development with incoming simulation service requests and keeping within budget and headcount targets
• Translate unit goals into team priorities, drive the modernization of simulation software platforms and the emulator roadmap, and help define the simulation/emulation strategy
• Contribute to the departmental vision and use digital simulation to support architecture, R&D and commercial site planning

Required profile

• University degree (Bachelor's or Master's) in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Physics, Mathematics, Mechatronics or a related technical discipline
• 7+ years of experience in technical engineering roles, ideally in IVD, medical devices or complex mechatronic/automation systems
• 5+ years of leadership experience (direct or matrix), with a track record of building and coaching technical teams
• Fluency in English; Spanish or German is a strong advantage

Required skills

• Hands-on background in Discrete Event Simulation (DES), System Dynamics, Agent-Based Modeling or custom digital twin/emulation software
• Advanced knowledge of mathematical modeling and mathematical optimization
• Ability to manage cross-functional interfaces and external vendors or contractors
