Telecommunications Engineer (Software Experience)

About the role

Future Connections helps network operators and service providers bridge the gap between legacy and innovative technologies such as Cloud, 5G, Big Data and Machine Learning, focusing on the planning, design, optimisation and automation of networks. It is looking for a Telecommunications Engineer with software development or research experience (e.g. pre-PhD, research scholarship) to join its Network Intelligence area. You will work in a multidisciplinary team of Telco engineers and software developers on cross-platform applications for network optimisation, automation, performance monitoring, data analytics and visualisation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop cross-platform applications for network optimisation, automation, performance monitoring and evaluation, data analytics and visualisation using data science techniques and software best practices.
• Work on projects for the main wireless operators in Spain and Europe.
• Use technologies such as Python, SQL, Cloud and environments such as 4G, 5G and Open RAN in daily work.

Required profile

• BSc in Software Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering.
• 3-4 years of relevant software development experience in a telecommunications environment.
• Previous university-level research experience is a plus.
• Multi-technology knowledge (2G, 3G, 4G, 5G).
• Experience working with major European operators or vendors.
• Only candidates residing in Spain with a valid work permit will be considered.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python application development.
• Relational and non-relational database schemas (SQL and Elastic Stack).
• Git version control and Agile best practices.
• Troubleshooting development and production problems.
• Cloud development (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
