UNCG Communications Intern

About the role

The UNCG Communications Intern will support the Communications and Advocacy Officer of the Resident Coordinator Office (RCO) in delivering high‑impact digital content for the United Nations Country Team. This six‑month, onsite internship in Port of Spain focuses on mobile video production, graphic design, and content strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Film and edit short‑form videos for social media and the UN website using mobile devices and desktop editing tools.
• Maintain a well‑organized library of raw footage and final video assets.
• Create social media graphics, infographics, and banners in Canva, adhering to UN branding guidelines.
• Draft copy for posts, manage content calendars, and track basic performance metrics.
• Assist in planning video shoots at UN events, field visits, and partner activities.
• Participate in UNCG working sessions and contribute creative ideas.

Required profile

• High school diploma (minimum).
• Currently enrolled in or recently completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. program in Communications, Media, Journalism, Graphic Design, Digital Media, Social Sciences or a related field.
• No professional experience required, but academic or practical exposure to video production or graphic design is essential.

Required skills

• Proficiency in filming and editing short‑form video content using a mobile device.
• Experience with video editing applications on mobile and desktop platforms.
• Strong skills in Canva for graphic design.
