V&V and Simulation Systems Engineer

About the role

Airbus Helicopters is seeking a V&V and Simulation Systems Engineer to join its System Design Office in Getafe, Spain. The role will support the development of autonomous flight capabilities for Uncrewed Aerial Systems, working across engineering disciplines to deliver high‑fidelity simulation and verification solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Define and streamline the Integration, Verification & Validation (IV&V) strategy for autonomous flight requirements.
• Lead the creation of advanced simulation environments for real‑time virtual aircraft and autonomy models.
• Oversee Software‑in‑the‑Loop (SIL) and Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop (HIL) integration and testing of complex algorithms.
• Contribute to ground‑based and flight test campaign planning, ensuring safety‑related evidence capture.
• Collaborate with Safety and Airworthiness teams to support a robust system safety case.
• Analyze simulation and flight test data to build digital twins and capitalize technical knowledge.
• Implement automated test pipelines in a fast‑prototype, “fail‑fast, learn‑fast” environment.

Required profile

• Degree or Master’s in Aeronautical, Systems or Control Engineering, with a focus on Modeling & Simulation or Systems Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in systems engineering and V&V for autonomous flight or complex avionics.
• Strong knowledge of aerospace design and safety standards (ARP‑4754A/B, ARP‑4761, DO‑178C/DO‑254).
• Familiarity with certification and regulatory processes.

Required skills

• Requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS.
• MATLAB/Simulink for algorithm modeling and testing.
• Python programming for validation scripts.
• SIL and HIL testing methodologies.
• Understanding of aerospace standards ARP‑4754A, ARP‑4761, DO‑178C, DO‑254.
