Senior Python Integration Engineer – Home Assistant Hardware

About the role

Nabu Casa is seeking a Senior Python Integration Engineer to own the Python software layer that connects its hardware products to the Home Assistant ecosystem. You will work at the intersection of hardware and software, delivering the code that makes Nabu Casa devices function seamlessly for millions of users.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Python integrations for Nabu Casa hardware within Home Assistant and ESPHome.
• Build proxy libraries and client‑side application components that bridge devices to the cloud.
• Collaborate closely with the Hardware team, Embedded Linux developers and the Open Home Foundation to ensure reliable device experiences.
• Manage the full lifecycle of integrations, from initial design through testing, documentation and long‑term maintenance.
• Contribute to the broader open‑source ecosystem by reviewing code, writing documentation and supporting community contributors.

Required profile

• Proven experience in Python development, preferably in a senior or lead capacity.
• Strong understanding of smart‑home platforms, especially Home Assistant and ESPHome.
• Ability to work across hardware and software boundaries, translating device specifications into robust code.
• Comfortable navigating large, evolving codebases with many contributors.
• Excellent communication skills for cross‑team collaboration.
