Accounting & Financial Analyst – EMEA

About the role

The Accounting and Financial Analyst will join BNP Paribas EMEA Finance in Madrid, supporting the measurement, control and explanation of financial indicators across the Group’s accounting, tax, regulatory, liquidity and credit‑risk reporting activities. The role offers a 360° view of banking operations, covering retail, corporate and investment banking.

Key responsibilities

• Measure and book adjustments in accounting and management accounting to ensure accurate reporting across all axes, including segmented reporting.
• Review and perform suspense provisioning and other legal and tax provisions.
• Oversee accounting controls performed by Back Offices, reviewing monthly results and quarterly sub‑certifications.
• Control and analyse data for regulatory reporting (e.g., Matisse allocations, BMRC feeds, accounting‑to‑risk reconciliation, local regulatory reports).
• Provide finance supervision and Line‑of‑Defense‑1 control verification for back‑office operations.
• Support back‑ and middle‑office teams on all accounting matters and coordinate responses to external auditors and other support groups.
• Escalate issues to team leader or head and ensure timely resolution of queries.
• Participate in upgrades and version releases of reporting tools and identify process improvements in production and workflow.

Required profile

• Strong competence in all banking activities (retail, investment banking, capital markets) with a 360° vision.
• Ability to measure, control and explain financial indicators for accounting, tax, regulatory and risk reporting.
• Experience working with cross‑functional teams and back‑office operations.
