Responsible AI Scientist – CDAIO

About the role

Join Santander's Data & AI Science (DAISci) team as a Responsible AI Scientist within the CDAIO unit. You will lead the development and operationalisation of AI principles, ensuring that AI solutions are safe, trustworthy, and aligned with corporate standards across the bank's global operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement responsible AI methodologies, interpretability techniques, and robust AI frameworks throughout the product lifecycle.
• Collaborate with engineering, validation, governance, and product teams to embed fairness, transparency, and safety into AI systems.
• Advance research in trustworthy AI, publish findings, and contribute to Santander’s AI research agenda.
• Mentor peers and build organisational expertise in responsible and reliable AI.

Required profile

• Advanced degree (PhD or MSc) in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field.
• Specialisation in responsible AI, trustworthy machine learning, AI safety, fairness, interpretability or AI governance.
• Proven track record of high‑impact research publications or patents in AI/ML.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of responsible AI concepts and methodologies.
• Experience with AI interpretability and fairness techniques.
• Ability to translate research into production‑ready, compliant AI systems.
