Senior Cyber Security Specialist – Authenticator Management

About the role

BASF is looking for a Senior Cyber Security Specialist to lead the authenticator ecosystem across its global enterprise. Based in Madrid, you will ensure secure, modern, and user‑friendly authentication for critical applications in both cloud and on‑premises environments.

Key responsibilities

• Own and drive BASF's authenticator ecosystem, including Smartcard Management, Smartcards, Windows Hello for Business and FIDO2.
• Advance phishing‑resistant and passwordless authentication as part of the global Identity‑Security strategy.
• Define and execute technical roadmaps aligned with Zero Trust principles.
• Influence authentication architecture decisions, technology standards and future platform capabilities.
• Act as the technical expert for certificate‑based authentication, authenticator lifecycle management and modern MFA technologies.
• Design, implement and continuously improve authentication solutions with focus on security, user experience, scalability, reliability and cost efficiency.
• Configure, integrate and optimise authentication platforms, infrastructure components, client software and backend services.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in cyber security engineering, especially in authentication technologies.
• Strong hands‑on and architectural expertise with smartcards, Windows Hello for Business and FIDO2.
• Deep understanding of Zero Trust security models and certificate‑based authentication.
• Ability to lead technical roadmaps and influence enterprise‑wide security standards.
