Accountant – Barcelona

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Accountant to join our Barcelona office on a full‑time, onsite basis. You will support the financial operations of a fast‑growing renewable energy group that develops wind, solar, waste‑to‑energy and green hydrogen projects across Europe.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate general‑ledger entries, reconciliations and expense reports.
• Prepare and review monthly financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets and cash‑flow reports.
• Monitor financial data, identify trends and provide insights for business decisions.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, local tax legislation and internal procedures.
• Assist in the preparation of tax returns, VAT filings and statutory reports.
• Collaborate with internal teams to guarantee timely processing of transactions.
• Support audit activities and liaise with external auditors or regulators.
• Identify process‑improvement opportunities and help enhance financial systems and controls.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Proven experience in a similar accounting role, preferably in an international or fast‑paced environment.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting and Spanish tax regulations.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Highly organized, proactive and able to work both independently and as part of a multicultural team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software such as Primavera or Sage.
• Advanced MS Excel skills.
