Advocacy Intern

About the role

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN‑Habitat) is seeking an Advocacy Intern to support the Local2030 Coalition Secretariat in Bilbao, Spain. The internship lasts six months and offers hands‑on experience in urban sustainability, policy advocacy, and multi‑stakeholder collaboration within the UN system.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Team Lead for Programme Management and Partnerships in daily advocacy activities.
• Support the preparation of briefing notes, reports, and communication materials for the Local2030 Coalition.
• Coordinate with coalition members, constituencies, and external partners to gather inputs and track progress.
• Contribute to data analysis and the synthesis of findings for multilevel stakeholder dialogues.
• Help organize events, webinars, and outreach activities that promote localization of the 2030 Agenda.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic individual willing to work under the supervision of senior staff.
• Strong interest in sustainable urban development, public policy, or international cooperation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
