API Engineer

About the role

Supabase is looking for an experienced API Engineer to maintain and expand its Management API, improve OAuth capabilities, and enhance the overall public API experience across its platform.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain internal and public‑facing APIs used by Supabase Studio, CLI, management APIs, and OAuth applications.
• Integrate with third‑party platforms and partners, providing custom integrations or clear API endpoints.
• Collaborate with DevOps, Frontend and other teams to ensure smooth API integration across the platform.
• Build and improve testing, debugging, and monitoring tools for API stability and performance.
• Work with the dev‑workflows team to enhance the Branching experience for Supabase users.

Required profile

• 5+ years of backend API development experience with strong expertise in TypeScript and JavaScript (Node.js).
• Proven ability to design robust, scalable, and maintainable APIs, including versioning, pagination, and error handling.
• Good understanding of PostgreSQL and relational databases.
• Experience building tools for testing, debugging, and monitoring API performance.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and containerized deployments.
