About the role

Airbus Helicopters is seeking an Autonomy Artificial Intelligence Engineer to join its System Design Office in Getafe, Spain. The role focuses on developing AI-driven perception and navigation capabilities for uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) operating in challenging environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement computer‑vision algorithms that enable intelligent UAS reactions to unforeseen situations.
• Develop and validate vision‑based localization methods for GNSS‑contested environments.
• Define AI functionalities for mission systems to support dynamic situational awareness.
• Build end‑to‑end AI/ML data pipelines, including collection, training, and validation using deep‑learning techniques.
• Oversee the transition of AI models to real‑time embedded platforms meeting airborne performance standards.
• Integrate AI functions with the broader flight stack using Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
• Contribute to safety and assurance by applying AI model validation, verification, and explainability methods.

Required profile

• Degree or Master’s in Computer Science, Robotics, AI, or Electronic Engineering.
• 3–5 years of experience architecting complex AI software pipelines, preferably in aerospace or high‑reliability robotics.
• Strong background in object detection, recognition, tracking, and multi‑sensor data fusion.
• Experience working in systems‑engineering environments with rigorous V&V processes.
