Backend QA Engineer

About the role

DKB Code Factory is looking for a Backend QA Engineer to join its collaborative, learning-first tech hub. As the quality advocate of the team, you will help shape testing practices, drive automation and ensure reliable software is delivered, working closely with developers, product stakeholders and fellow engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Own and continuously improve the team's testing approach for backend services and APIs, becoming the go-to person on testing topics in an agile environment.
• Ensure test readiness across infrastructure, environments and test data so tests run smoothly and reliably.
• Design, implement and expand automated test coverage, including integration, contract, component and end-to-end testing.
• Work with developers and product stakeholders to identify risks, clarify requirements and prevent defects early.
• Analyse test failures and defects, support root-cause analysis and find recurring quality issues and improvement opportunities.
• Share testing insights, results and quality metrics with stakeholders to support release decisions.
• Contribute to Continuous Testing and Continuous Delivery practices.

Required profile

• Experience in software quality assurance and test automation for backend systems, with knowledge of test design techniques and risk-based testing.
• Hands-on experience with backend testing and API validation (REST), at integration, contract, component and end-to-end levels.
• Programming experience with Java, Kotlin or comparable technologies.
• Familiarity with SQL and database validation, test environments, test data management, mocking and service virtualization.
• Fluency in English; a collaborative, proactive approach to problem-solving.
