BI Data Engineer

About the role

As a BI Data Engineer at Destinus you will turn messy spreadsheets into a reliable, scalable data platform. You will own the Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse that serves more than 200 users across five European sites, migrating Excel‑based reporting into automated pipelines and integrating new data sources to support production, supply‑chain and strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain the Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse, ensuring data availability, integrity and performance.
• Develop automated Dataflow Gen 2 pipelines to migrate existing Excel and SharePoint data into the lakehouse.
• Integrate additional sources such as quality‑management tools and ensure seamless connection with ERP data from Microsoft Dynamics D365 F&O.
• Implement data‑quality checks, monitoring and alerting to detect pipeline failures or data drift.
• Collaborate with the Operations Data Specialist and BI users to deliver clean data models for downstream Power BI dashboards.
• Document data models, transformation logic and governance rules for long‑term maintainability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems or related field.
• 2‑4 years of experience in data engineering, ETL/ELT development or data‑platform management.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with relational and analytical data models.
• Experience working with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse or comparable cloud data platforms.
• Familiarity with Power BI at the data‑model level and understanding of data governance in sensitive environments.
• Fluent English; additional European languages are a plus.
