Chief Medical Officer – Healthcare Executive

About the role

Centene is seeking a visionary Chief Medical Officer to lead medical oversight for Louisiana Healthcare Connections, a subsidiary serving 28 million members. This hybrid position combines remote work with regular on‑site engagement in Baton Rouge and occasional travel across Louisiana.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership and ensure cost‑effective, high‑quality care for health‑plan members.
• Act as clinical advisor and educator to medical management staff, guiding clinical judgment on all determinations.
• Develop, implement, and interpret medical review and quality‑related policies and guidelines.
• Oversee staff and provider training, fostering strong relationships with the local medical community.
• Analyze case‑management data, identify care gaps, and recommend corrective actions.
• Lead quality‑of‑care initiatives, monitor performance indicators, and drive continuous improvement.
• Monitor member and provider satisfaction, implementing changes to enhance experience.
• Collaborate on corporate clinical care standards and medical practice policies.

Required profile

• MD or DO without restrictions, Board Certified, with a valid Louisiana medical license.
• Louisiana resident preferred.
• Minimum 7 years of clinical practice; management experience preferred.
• Experience with Medicaid, utilization management, and quality accreditation standards is highly desired.
• Active medical practice and leadership within the local medical community are advantageous.
