Country Representative (P5) – UN Women, La Paz

About the role

The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) is seeking a senior leader to head its Country Office in Bolivia. Reporting to the Regional Director and collaborating with the UN Country Team, the Country Representative will drive the implementation of UN Women’s strategic plan, aligning it with national priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals, especially SDG 5.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation and management of programmes addressing gender‑based violence, economic empowerment and women’s leadership.
• Develop and nurture partnerships with government agencies, civil society, UN system partners and donors.
• Ensure results‑based reporting to the Regional Director and the Resident Coordinator under the Management and Accountability Framework.
• Oversee resource mobilization, visibility initiatives and compliance with UN reforms.
• Represent UN Women in national and international fora, advocating for gender equality policies.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in programme management, gender equality and development cooperation.
• Proven ability to lead multi‑stakeholder partnerships and secure funding.
• Strong understanding of UN system processes and the Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework.
• Excellent communication and diplomatic skills.
