Data Scientist (Face Biometrics)

About the role

As part of a collaborative team of research and data scientists based in Europe, you will help advance Daon's biometric solutions. Working closely with research and engineering colleagues, you will focus on improving and developing new face biometric technologies that meet strategic objectives. You will report directly to the Principal Research Scientist.

Key responsibilities

• Develop machine learning algorithms for face authentication solutions.
• Research, prototype, and evaluate presentation attack detection and fraud prevention methods.
• Test and configure face algorithms to meet performance and accuracy standards.
• Extend and utilise existing biometric code libraries.
• Run rigorous experiments, interpret findings, and translate outcomes into deployable models and policies.
• Innovate solutions to emerging face biometrics challenges.
• Apply and continuously grow expertise in AI, machine learning, and computer vision.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience in at least two of the following areas: Computer Vision & Deep Learning, Data & Experimental Methods, Image Recognition & Matching, Liveness & Anti‑Spoofing.
• Proven track record through project delivery, research contributions, or a minimum of two years of relevant employment experience.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• C++ programming.
• Deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Version control systems (e.g., Git) and testing/debugging practices.
• Handling and preprocessing large‑scale datasets, including synthetic data generation and weakly supervised learning.
