Database Administrator – SQL Server & Azure

About the role

The Database Administrator will manage production and test databases across the Group’s business units, ensuring high availability and optimal performance. The role involves aligning with the Group Solutions Delivery framework, monitoring trends, and driving capacity planning.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, consolidate and upgrade SQL Server databases, providing requirements to system administrators.
• Plan and execute database consolidation strategies to reduce cost and complexity.
• Monitor performance and capacity, analyse stored procedures and execution times, and implement efficiency improvements.
• Manage physical storage allocation to optimise database performance.
• Research and recommend database products, services, protocols and standards to support procurement and development.
• Develop tools and techniques for secure client data access.
• Maintain database components, including patch management, upgrades and security compliance.
• Define long‑term strategic goals for production databases in collaboration with data and system owners.

Required profile

• B.Sc. in Computer Science or related field.
• Microsoft Certified Database Administrator and Cloud Database Administrator certifications.
• 3‑5 years of database administration experience with strong logical and physical design knowledge.
• Familiarity with COBIT and ITIL change‑management standards.
• Ability to work under pressure, exercise independent judgment and communicate effectively at all organisational levels.
