DFMEA Engineer – Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis

About the role

The DFMEA Engineer / DFMT Moderator will lead structured technical risk analysis activities, ensuring product designs are robust, manufacturable, and compliant with customer and industry standards. You will coordinate cross‑functional teams, drive data‑based decisions, and link design intent with manufacturing feasibility.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, prepare, and moderate DFMEA sessions with cross‑functional teams.
• Ensure DFMEA reviews follow AIAG/VDA or company‑specific standards.
• Identify potential failure modes, effects, causes, and controls.
• Maintain clarity, completeness, and traceability of DFMEA elements.
• Evaluate design concepts and interfaces to spot risks.
• Track and verify implementation of actions to reduce risk priority numbers.
• Maintain DFMEA documentation in APIS IQ and manage version control.
• Ensure compliance with AIAG/VDA FMEA Handbook and IATF 16949.
• Serve as liaison between design engineering, quality, and manufacturing.
• Support customer technical reviews and address DFMEA‑related queries.
• Lead DFMT discussions, identify manufacturability risks early, and initiate mitigation actions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Electrical/Electronics, or related engineering field.
• 5+ years of experience in DFMEA, product development, design engineering, or quality engineering.
• Strong knowledge of AIAG/VDA standards and IATF 16949.
