Director, ClimateTech & DeepTech Venture Capital

About the role

Santander Alternative Investments is seeking a Director (or Managing Director) to lead its ClimateTech and DeepTech venture capital activities from Madrid. The role will shape the fund’s investment strategy, drive deal execution, and represent the fund to investors, founders and industry partners.

Key responsibilities

• Define and refine the investment thesis for ClimateTech and DeepTech, aligning it with geographic and thematic priorities.
• Represent the fund externally with limited partners, founders, co‑investors, accelerators and public institutions, enhancing visibility and positioning.
• Lead portfolio construction and capital allocation across stages, themes and risk‑return objectives.
• Drive fundraising with European institutional and industrial investors, expanding the LP base.
• Source, evaluate and execute high‑quality investments, taking lead investor responsibility for structuring, valuation, negotiation and governance.
• Serve on portfolio company boards, providing strategic guidance, supporting growth initiatives and preparing exits.

Required profile

• Proven senior experience in venture capital, private equity or related investment fields, preferably within ClimateTech or DeepTech.
• Strong network of institutional investors, founders and ecosystem partners across Europe.
• Demonstrated ability to lead fundraising processes and manage large‑scale investment portfolios.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation and governance skills.
• Fluency in English; Spanish is a plus.
