Economic Analyst – Tax Modelling

About the role

The Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission is seeking an Economic Analyst specialised in tax modelling to join its Fiscal Policy Analysis Unit in Seville. The role focuses on research and policy analysis of consumption taxes, including VAT, and the detection of tax fraud and evasion.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and apply economic models that assess the impact of tax policy reforms, especially on consumption taxes.
• Analyse large datasets related to taxation and social benefits to provide evidence for EU policy making.
• Support the preparation of policy briefs, reports and scientific publications.
• Collaborate with other analysts and external stakeholders to ensure model robustness and relevance.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in Economics, Public Finance, or a related field.
• Strong analytical mindset with experience in quantitative research.
• Knowledge of EU fiscal policy, VAT systems and tax compliance issues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
