Electronics Technician – AN/SPY‑1 Radar

About the role

The Department of the Navy seeks an Electronics Technician to support AN/SPY‑1 radar subsystems on shipboard platforms. This overseas position involves urgent technical assistance, system testing, and maintenance of critical radar equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance for mission‑degrading casualty reports and urgent subsystem requests.
• Perform functional checkout, assessment, adjustment, and testing of new or modernized shipboard radar systems, primarily at sea.
• Train and mentor organizational maintenance personnel in troubleshooting techniques and maintenance policies.
• Direct test programs and evaluate repairs for major damage or deterioration of radar components.
• Participate in ordnance and ship alterations, including hands‑on component modification and contractor quality assurance.
• Research and test compatibility and interoperability of existing and planned AN/SPY‑1 radar installations.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship and eligibility for federal employment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. passport and, if required, a visa for overseas assignment.
• Willingness to sign overseas employment statements and transportation agreements.
• Compliance with Selective Service registration (for males born after 12‑31‑1959).
