Enterprise Architect – Digital Business Platforms

About the role

The DBP Enterprise Architect will lead the definition and operationalisation of architecture blueprints for Digital Business Platforms (DBPs) within BASF's R&D&R domain. Working from the Madrid Digital Hub, you will collaborate with Global Process Owners, Digital Offices and the Enterprise Architecture governance team to ensure coherent, innovative, and integrated solutions across the business and IT landscape.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain domain‑specific architecture blueprints for functional areas or technology domains within DBPs.
• Design and document integrated architecture solutions that align business processes, value streams and information flows.
• Act as the functional design authority, owning business capability mapping in partnership with GPOs and Digital Offices.
• Ensure DBP solutions conform to the broader enterprise architecture and co‑create guidance with IT Enterprise Architects.
• Analyse current processes and systems, identify inefficiencies and propose improvements using value‑stream mapping.
• Drive governance by enforcing standards, frameworks, tooling and processes in DBP projects.

Required profile

• Proven experience in enterprise architecture and designing integrated digital solutions.
• Strong understanding of business process modelling, value‑stream concepts and regulatory environments.
• Ability to work in a matrix organisation, collaborating with cross‑functional teams and senior stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills to translate technical concepts into business‑focused language.
